Because the narrative of the movie is not linear and jumps in different time periods. The movie itself will have 2 different combinations of visual narrative.

The 80s will be Classic, with realistic dark mood, with analog colors, camera will be steady or on a dolly, most of framing will be with a lot of negative perspective so that we get the idea of oppression. Scenes in exterior will have shots from behind objects so we always have the perception that our characters are under continuous surveillance. Music in this part of the movie will only be coming out of a radio, or a tv in order to have a natural feel of the period.
